ADHD Traits Test
Explore how ADHD-like traits show up in your attention, energy, and emotional world
What this test measures
This test draws on the ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS) developed by the WHO and Kessler et al., alongside Dr Russell Barkley's influential model of ADHD as a disorder of executive function and self-regulation. It measures five dimensions: inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, executive function, and emotional regulation. This adaptation is for educational self-reflection only and is not a clinical screening tool.
What the ADHD Traits Test measures
Your answers are scored across 5 core dimensions:
- Inattention
Your inattention profile is mixed. You can focus well when a task genuinely engages you, but routine, repetitive, or low-stimulation work tends to lead to drift and distraction. You likely have strategies that help, even if they sometimes fail under pressure or fatigue.
- Hyperactivity
Your hyperactivity is moderate. You experience some restlessness and a preference for activity over stillness, but you can manage sitting still when necessary — particularly in engaging or structured contexts. The restlessness is more of a background hum than a constant disruption.
- Impulsivity
Your impulsivity is moderate. You sometimes say or do things before fully thinking them through, and patience is not your strongest suit — but you have enough self-regulation to catch yourself before most significant situations escalate.
- Executive Function
Your executive function is variable. You manage reasonably well with clear deadlines, external accountability, or tasks that interest you, but open-ended projects, long-term planning, and tasks with no immediate feedback often stall. You have probably developed workarounds, even if they are not always reliable.
- Emotional Regulation
Your emotional regulation is moderate. You experience stronger emotional reactions than many people in certain situations — particularly when frustrated or feeling unfairly judged — but you can generally manage these responses before they cause serious problems. You recover from emotional upsets in a reasonable timeframe.
